The Red Uakari Monkey Project research, by Mark Bowler of DICE in collaboration with Richard Bodmer of DICE and Pablo Puertas of WCS has been funded at various times by the Rufford Foundation, Primate Consevation Incorporated, Conservation International, the Los Angeles Zoo & Wildlife Conservation Society. The research was conducted under a permit from INRENA and in collaboration with UNAP.

It is possible to join expeditions to the Yavari River and observe red uakaris in the wild with Earthwatch www.earthwatch.org or Operation Wallacea www.opwall.com for students.

One way to help the Red Uakari Monkey Project is to buy a print from the Amazon-Images web site. Proceeds go to the projects work.

Mark and other people participating in the project often visit Pilpintuwasi Amazon animal orphanage and butterfly centre, where rescued red uakari monkeys can be seen at close quarters.

If you want to contact the Red Uakari Monkey Project, please use the email adress in the lower right corner of this page.
